Glitter is kind of fascinating, some people love it, some people don’t:-) But the sparkle you get with glitter and especially the pure sheen glitter by Tonic Studios is totally gorgeous and very appealing to a lot of people. I am sharing tips and trick to reduce the mess and create stunning backgrounds. So be sure to watch today’s video for all tips and to see all techniques in action.

Here are the
things I used to reduce the glitter mess,
a big coffee
filter the glitter doesn’t stick the paper like it does to regular printing
paper. I have an static cloth to wipe of excess glitter.
I have the Tonic Studios Crafter’s Card Creaser ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and the Tonic Studios – Precision Glide Folder ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) they will both work to really work in the glitter. And I have
the Nuvo – Surface Sweep Brush ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) a great tool that I am totally excited about, I didn’t expect it would work as great as it does.

For the first card I used Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Purple Organza ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Hot Pink ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) And I used the Tim Holtz Retractable Craft Pick ( CRF | CST | SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) to remove the squares. For the card bases I used Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ).

I added the glitter card on Craft Perfect Weave Textured Card Teal Blue ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and made some drops with Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss – Party Pink ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )

I cut a frame with the Tim Holtz Side-Order Set – Noted ( SBC | CRF | CST ) and coloured the edges with  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads – Walnut Stain ( SBC | CST | CRF ). I made the sentiment with the new Tim Holtz Alphabet Die – Handmade ( SBC | CRF | CST ) I cut the letters out of Craft Perfect – Greyboard ( TNCUK | TNC ) and out of the teal cardstock and glued them together.

Scrapbook.com Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheets 6 x 8.5 ( SBC ) works great and are affordable double-sided adhesive sheets.

On this card I made a different pattern with the Squares and I used Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Purple Organza ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ), Turquoise ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Aqua ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )

I used Tim Holtz  Shadow Script 2 ( SBC | CST ) for the sentiment cut out of Craft Perfect Weave Textured Card Teal Blue ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for the shadow part and twice out of Mauve Purple ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for extra dimension.

If you clean the squares with the Nuvo – Surface Sweep Brush ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) to remove the glitter from the paper squares you
can use them over and over again like I did on these cards.

On this card I used Nuvo – Pure Sheen Glitter – Rose Gold ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Hot Pink ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC )

I added some pre-made Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss – Auburn Pearl ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )

I cut the butterfly out of a sheet from the American Crafts – Wildflower and Honey Collection – 6 x 8 Paper Pad ( SBC ) and used the Tim Holtz Alphabet Die – Handmade ( SBC | CRF | CST ) for the sentiment.

For this card I used the Squares again and Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Chocolate ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) combined with Turquoise ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )

For this card I cut the other frame with the Tim Holtz Side-Order Set – Noted ( SBC | CRF | CST ) and coloured the edges with  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads – Walnut Stain ( SBC | CST | CRF )

And I have a larger strip under the frame cut out of a sheet from the American Crafts – Wildflower and Honey Collection – 6 x 8 Paper Pad ( SBC ) The card base and the frame are cut out of  Craft Perfect Weave Textured Card Ocean Blue ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and I used the Tim Holtz Alphabet Die – Handmade ( SBC | CRF | CST ) for the sentiment.

For this card I used circles and the colours Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Purple Organza ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Turquoise ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )

I added pre-made Nuvo – Stone Drops – Chalk White ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and they add a fun contrast.

Here I also used the Tim Holtz Alphabet Die – Handmade ( SBC | CRF | CST ) for the sentiment cut out of Craft Perfect – Greyboard ( TNCUK | TNC ) and out of Craft Perfect Weave Textured Card Mauve Purple ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Teal Blue ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and I glued them together for a fun effect and some dimension.

On this card I used the circles again, it’s fun to use them over and over and make all sorts of patterns.

I used the Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Hot Pink ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and Aqua ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for the background.

With the glitter you can make all sorts of colour mixes, I used 6 colours and the variations are endless.

I used Tim Holtz  Shadow Script 2 ( SBC | CST ) for the sentiment cut out of light blue for the shadow part and twice out of Mauve Purple ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for extra dimension.

For this card I used the complete backing sheet from the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheets 6 x 8.5 5 sheets ( SBC ) to make a fun pattern. just to show you that you don’t need much to create a gorgeous background. I used four colours glitter because I have them and I like to use my “stash”.
I used  Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter Hot Pink ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ), Aqua ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ), Purple Organza   CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Turquoise ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for the background.

I added pre-made Nuvo – Stone Drops – Plum Slate ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and I used the Tim Holtz Alphabet Die – Handmade ( SBC | CRF | CST ) for the sentiment again.

Here I used the same colours glitter as I did on the previous card. and depending on the card base you add it on this can make a great masculine card too. And the fun thing with making your own pattern is each card will be unique.

I cut the Tim Holtz  Shadow Script 2 ( SBC | CST ) word out of Craft Perfect Weave Textured Card Mauve Purple ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Teal Blue ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and I glued them together for extra dimension.

I wiped off
the excess glitter with the surface sweep on all cards
and the
surface sweep is really a great tool. I didn’t
expect that it would be so great for this but it really is, I am super
excited about it. When you use the sweep to wipe off the glitter from you card, hardly any glitter will come off when you touch it which is great.
You can also use it to clear away any excess glitters, powders and other products from your work surface, I always like a versatile product. I hope this post was helpful and “sparkled” your imagination:-)

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
