Hi lovely crafty friends, today I have a gorgeous bubbly clear water effect that’s pretty realistic as well. Not only did I use just two ingredients to create the water. It’s also super easy to do and quite a bit of fun as well.
All techniques and ideas are shown in the video tutorial. Make sure to watch it to get all the best tips and tricks.
(All supplies are linked to different stores at the end of this post in the thumbnails. The different stores are also linked behind the product name. Among them are affiliate links that may be used at no cost to you.)
For the water effect background, I used alcohol inks and glossy accents. I have done this technique in the past but this time I used two layers adding even more to the depth of the design.
My base is Grafix Dura-Lar Clear Film – 9″ x 12″ Pad ( JGG ) which is not only great for this technique. It can be used in many ways and die-cutting is one of them, think of all the possibilities that gives.
Cute seahorse Sally ( JGG ) is the focal point leaving loads of “water” around her visible, as I didn’t want to cover it all up.
Some highlights on Sally as a finishing touch with a Uni Ball Signo Broad – White Pen ( JGG ), to add shades and make the colours pop.
A few clear water-like drops Nuvo – Crystal Drops – Morning Dew ( SBC ) at the top for extra dimension and a printed sentiment.
There is Cosmic Shimmer Mixed Media Embossing Powder – Jurassic ( JGG ) on the frame, for a sandy-beachy look that goes well with the water theme.
Along the edges of the frame is a bit of the same 2 colours stickles, to let that colour come back and make the design come together.
I hope you’re feeling all bubbly and ready to dive in creating a water effect. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!

Than´s for this tutorial, never heard of this technique before. Always fun to learn new things so you could use your craftstuff in more ways. Could I use some other plastic film?

You’re welcome. Yes you can use another plastic film, just give it a go. When in doubt just test a small piece.
