Scraps in different sizes make for awesome textured backgrounds. They are fun to make and are done in a jiffy Try sticking them on some Double Sided Adhesive ( SBC | JGG ) to create borders, mats or complete card panels.
Adding a bit of black will help lift the colours and threat always adds some cool playful texture.
When you have been making cards like a pro you are going to have lots of scraps laying around. This often makes you ending up with a lot of cardstock strips. You know those pieces that you can’t throw out they are too big to ditch but too small to turn into a card.
To me, strips are always a great starting point when using scraps. And if you are clever about it you can even surprise yourself with multiple cards.
Strips combined with Thinlits Dies – Stacked Circles ( SBC ) will give you lots of two and three in one card options.
Adding a hint of black with doodling is another great option and it’s fun to do as well.
Filling the circles with smaller size circles for the inlay effect is another great option. Add some texture to the circles with an embossing folder to add a bit of dimension as well.
This embossing folder comes with the NEW Sizzix – Big Shot Switch Plus Machine – Starter Kit – White( SBC | SSS ). It was a long wait after being introduced two years ago but it was worth it, I am no longer unplugged:-)
The Big Shot Switch is also available in Black ( SBC | SSS ) and exclusive at Scrapbook.Com in a happy pink called Cherry Blossom ( SBC )
The flowers and greenery are from the Sizzix – Thinlits Dies – Bold Flora set ( SBC ). This is an older set that is great to have in your stash because they make perfect embellishments in many ways and variations.
The focal point on this card is the circle cut out from the previous card. With a bunch more circles added for some cool layering, this is another great way to use up your scraps as well.
Sometimes you will get a cool surprise, like this garland that fell off a previous card when cutting it to size. Use it also to make yet another card:-)
Another cut off strip was used as a border on this card. And yes, even tiny scraps can be used, they make adorable sprinkles.
Just use a sticky tool, like the Studio Katia EMBELLISHMENT WAND ( SSS ) to add them with a bit of glue and it’s done in a jiffy.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
