It’s time for another Rubber Dance Moodboard Challenge, so today I have some ideas to share on how you can use the mood board. There are a bunch of ways you can go about a mood board, just go with your feeling and don’t just don’t overthink it.
(All supplies are linked to different stores at the end of this post in the thumbnails. The different stores are also linked behind the product name. Among them are affiliate links that may be used at no cost to you.)
In the video I show some fun and easy techniques with distress Oxide inks to add colour on your backgrounds, with just one colour and also for a soft multi coloured background.
And I show you how you can add texture in the same colour so make sure to watch video to see all techniques.
Mood Board Inspiration
This is the Februari mood board with super cool winter pictures and a few colours to help you get started. When you have an inspirational board like this, you can go about it in lots of different ways.
You can pick one of the pictures with the colours in it and work with that, you can check out the textures or the shapes like the birds or the branches and use those with your stamps for instance.
Or you can just use the colours that are appealing to you and then make a fun mix of the most of your favorite colour and add bits of the other colours.
There are a lot of options so just have some fun playing around!
For the background I used Distress Oxide inks in the colours Antique Linen ( SBC | JGG ) Stormy Sky ( SBC | JGG ) and Rusty Hinge ( SBC | JGG ). I added the colours in different ways to add texture.
I stamped the butterflies with Nuvo – Clear Embossing Ink ( TNCUK | TNC) and heat embossed them with Ranger Ink Embossing Powder – Black Sparkle ( SBC ).
Then I coloured the butterflies with the same distress inks and a Nuvo – Aqua Flow – Water Brush ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) to get a softer colour.
After drying I finished with a layer of Nuvo – Aqua Shimmer – Glitter Gloss ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) on the butterflies to get a nice subtle sparkling layer.
These are two of the cards done in just one colour for the background with the layering of the different techniques.
I used the Doodle Borders #1 ( RBB ) and Crazy Flowers #1 ( RBB ) to add extra texture in the same colour on the card on the right.
Here you can see the gorgeous sparkle of the embossing powder on the butterflies.
I hope you liked these fun and easy cards and techniques. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
