Hi lovely crafty friends, recently I came across some gorgeous rice paper. Being a paper lover I was intrigued and wanted to know more about it.
What is rice paper and how can you use it on your craft projects, so I put it to the test and made some mixed media cards that are super easy.
Because Mixed Media doesn’t have to be hard at all.
In the video tutorial, you’ll learn about the rice paper basics and you’ll get some fun ideas on how to use it for your cards.
Below are the cards along with some close-ups and the complete visual supply list can be found after the pictures.
(All supplies are linked to different stores at the end of this post in the thumbnails. The different stores are also linked behind the product name. Among them are affiliate links that may be used at no cost to you.)
Keep it simple with rice paper as a focal point and a bit of texture along the edges with Art By Marlene Rubber Stamp Set – Exclusive Textures ( JGG ) and a bit of doodling.
This card is kept pretty basic with the rice paper being the star. Some added Cosmic Shimmer – Opal Blaze Touch Tip – Sapphire Grape ( SBC | JGG ) lifts the flowers with some gorgeous shimmer.
Another focal point with the rice paper and gorgeous shimmer colour added with Cosmic Shimmer – Pixie Powder – Peacock Green ( SBC | JGG ).
The same colour is added at the edge of the wings and on the body, making the dragonfly bring it to life and pop even more.
Here’s a complete background combined with another layer of rice paper. Using Distress Collage Medium – Crazing ( SBC | JGG ) and Dina Wakley Media White Gesso ( JGG ) gives this card a cool vintage look.
Tiny details are added with Distress Texture Paste Matte ( SBC | JGG ) and a stencil for some white contrast and fun raised details.
Are you all set to try rice paper on your own projects? Have lots of fun, thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
