Hi lovely crafty friends, today I have a secret to share, a Secret Lock system on a card that is:-) This slimline card is not hard at all but the surprising element makes it fun to make and super cool to receive as well.
And it also comes with a FREE guide with the measurements so get ready to dive right in.
The technique on how to put this card together and all ideas are shown in the video tutorial. Make sure to watch it to get all the best tips and tricks.
(All supplies are linked to different stores at the end of this post in the thumbnails. The different stores are also linked behind the product name. Among them are affiliate links that may be used at no cost to you.)
The patterned paper I used if from the sir vagabond japan line ( SSS | JGG ) Gorgeous colourful oriental orientated papers with a bit of a grungy feel to it.
To score the card bases I used the We R Memory Keepers – Score Board ( SBC ) with a Teflon Card Creaser ( SBC | SSS ) to make the score lines and burnish.
The card creaser is a very handy tool that’s super helpful especially with fun and fancy fold cards. And the Teflon creaser really holds up it’s end as I have been using it for years and it’s still as good as new.
Last time I made a special POP-UP card with a stopper to put it on display I got a bunch of questions on how to help the receiver know what to do. In case you missed the POP-UP Card Video just CLICK on this purple link
Now you can go ahead and add a Sticky note but that’s not very pretty on your handmade card. So I put together the Card Directionals Pack to gently push them in the right direction:-)
The Card Directionals pack contains tags with all kinds of directions on how to open a card. They come in 10 different colours combined with both black and white directions as well as neutral black and white tags. Making it a total of 23 pages with Card Directionals to choose from and add to your designs.
And of course, that’s not the only way, you can also use them as embellishments on your Cards in Art Journals on Scrapbook Pages, you can go any way with them. Because your way is the best way on your art project!
Of course with some tearing to add some interest and use up paper scraps as well. This will add to the grungy feel and creates some flat layering as well.
Combining the patterned papers to make the secret lock is also a great option. This way the Secret Lock part blends even more in with the background, making it a bit more mysterious:-)
Cards like these always give you multiple options to decorate and add your unique twist.
I hope you liked this card design make sure to give it a try, it’s fun. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
